In clinic, the same sequela will be developed due to hypothyroidism resulting from both of chronic autoimmune thyroiditis and congenital hypothyroidism. Early and accurate diagnosis of autoimmune thyroiditis becomes very important to prevent the tragedy for young children. In this article, we present a four-year-old boy who was diagnosed as hypothyroidism due to poor appetite and short stature. Typical thyroid scintigraphic and ultrasonographic findings of autoimmune thyroiditis were identified in the patient. Significant elevation of serum antibodies of anti-thyroglobulin and anti-peroxidase were demonstrated later. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis was diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology, finally. We discussed the value of image diagnosis for autoimmune thyroiditis.

Lingual thyroid: diagnosis using a hybrid of single photon emission computed tomography and standard computed tomography.
AIM To present a rare case of lingual thyroid detected using a hybrid of single photon emission computed tomography and standard computed tomography in a young woman with hypothyroidism. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 29-year-old woman was screened for autoimmune thyroid disorders in early pregnancy, and found to have subclinical hypothyroidism. No thyroid tissue was found in the anterior neck upon ...

Background: Local ablative treatments play an important role for patients who cannot be treated surgically. Radiofrequency ablation is a well-established alternative to surgical treatment of thyroid nodules, however it also has disadvantages. Microwave ablation (MWA) is a new minimally invasive treatment promising several improvements. The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the eff...
متن کاملDelayed imaging for detection of Meckel's diverticulum in Tc-99m pertechnetate scintigraphy
Tc-99m pertechnetate scintigraphy is the modality of choice for diagnosis of Meckel's diverticulum. Interpretation of Meckel's scan identifies a focal area of radiopharmaceutical uptake in the anterior abdomen similar to normal gastric mucosa. The activity must be of the same pattern and intensity as gastric uptake. We present a 13-year-old patient with gastrointest...

Introduction: Extraosseous accumulation of 99mTc – methylene diphosphonate (MDP) may be due to neoplastic, dystrophic, hormonal, inflammatory, ischemic, traumatic or excretory disorders. 99mTc-MDP incidental thyroid uptake is not frequent and is possibly caused by the presence of dystrophic or metastatic calcification, biopsy procedure and presence of beni...
متن کاملClinical significance of additional lateral imaging in diagnosis of prosthesis infection by combined Tc-99m labeled leukocyte/bone marrow scintigraphy
Introduction: Recently the most accurate diagnostic method in the diagnosis of prosthesis infection is the combination of Tc-99m labeled leukocyte/bone marrow imaging. However the diagnostic efficiency of the test is influenced because of its low spatial resolution. Recently SPECT/CT imaging is implicated in this test with efficient additional diagnostic improvement. In the dep...
